Sunshine, blooming flowers and warmer temps make every day in May a joy to celebrate. From Mothers Day creations to Memorial Day honors, here are some activities to keep the family entertained all month long.

1. Tap into your spiritual side. On May 1, join residents of all faiths from across the metro area for the National Day of Prayer. The Family Place in Detroit hosts one event themed, Just Pray. For other prayer rallies, services and more throughout the state, visit www.detroitnationaldayofprayer.com.

2. Pack up the kids or grab some friends and go! Some of the regions annual festivals and fairs kick off this month.
