Solar System in My Room
Whatever the weather, get a perfect view of the galaxy with this nifty, ceiling-mount version by astronomy-loving company Uncle Milton – that no-joke orbits, thanks to the included remote control. Eight full-color detailed planets (sorry, Pluto) orbit around a light-up sun. To boot, kids can ID planets and – and create their own meteor shower – with a light pointer (built right into the remote). About $32-$40.

These ideas are great and even as our children get older it's wonderful that we supported these interests. Our son's loved this, attended Space Camp, visited Cranbrook, loved the Smithsonian Air and Space museum.
It all paid off because they just finished a very difficult college Astronomy course and they both got a B.
I'd urge parents to take these and provide fun learning paths for your children.
