Tikatok Create a Book
Here's one to write home about: This website lets creativity soar, giving kids the chance to write, illustrate and publish their own stories!
As writers, we love to see kids expressing themselves through this wonderful form of creativity – and letting their imaginations take flight. So when we came across Tikatok.com, we were ecstatic. It's a website that gives your kids the tools to design their own original story!
A great gift for parents, grandparents and family members alike, the books can be created in just three steps. Kids ages 4 to 12 simply write a book – which they can craft from scratch or with the help of the templates available on the website – add pictures and order.
Books can be downloaded as PDFs for $2.99, or purchased as professional quality soft covers (starting at $15) or hard covers (starting at $18). And teachers or educators who want to use Tikatok in class are eligible for special pricing.
Sharon Kan is the mastermind behind the idea of Tikatok.com – which is now a Barnes & Noble company. After a visit to a bookstore with her daughter, Kan realized adults wrote all of the children's books. Why not have books written by other kids?
So Kan, along with a group from MIT University, began developing the concept for Tikatok.com. It would become the first Internet publishing platform for kids.
Tailor-made for young authors, the site is super easy to navigate. Plus, it's in a safe online environment.
Like the creators say, "Every Child Has a Story" – so why not nurture it in Tikatok? Who knows: You might have the next Hemmingway on your hands!
