Kids can jazz up and personalize their summertime tops with sparkly DIY bling, thanks to the Tulip Glam-It-Up Embellishing Kit. Check out our easy how-to!

Embellished T-Shirts: Quick and Glitzy Fun

Sometimes you need a hint of sparkle in your wardrobe. Embellished T-shirts are all over the runways and fashion blogs these days, from faux necklaces to big, flashy rhinestones. I received the Tulip Glam-It-Up Embellishing Kit while volunteering with the ILovetoCreate.com team this spring, and I was immediately intrigued by the teeny, tiny iron that comes with the sparkly iron-ons. This affordable kit provides everything, short of a decorating surface, to practice heat transfers. And the tiny iron is great for small hands!

Instructions

1. Start out by pressing your T-shirt, if it's wrinkled. Once that's done, place the paper bag inside the shirt. I did this just to be safe when using the mini iron.

2. Next, cut out one of the crystal transfers that comes in the kit. Slowly peel off the back plastic backing. The top plastic cover will be sticky. Place this side down on the T-shirt, so it adheres to the fabric.

3. Plug in the mini iron; the orange light should turn on. Once the iron has heated up, place it on top of the transfer. Apply pressure all across the transfer for several seconds at a time. To test the transfer, carefully peel back the plastic top. If it appears that the crystals have not adhered, return the plastic sheet and continue to press.

4. Let the transfer cool and then carefully remove the plastic.

5. You're done! (Make sure to keep and save the instruction booklet so that you can refer to it for care instructions.) Make matching shirts for friends, cousins – anyone!

How'd yours turn out? We'd love to see. Email a photo of your creation to me, Lish Dorset. I'll feature it in a future Make It blog.
