Craft Roundup: Glam, Glitter and Garland

It's the first batch of cool DIY projects gathered up by the Make It blog! Get inspired with glitzy eggs, a rainbow dress, cupcake liner dolls and more.

Happy spring! With the new season, today, we're unveiling the Make It blog's first-ever weekly roundup of some of the most creative, crafty and all-around fun family- and kid-themed craft projects on the web. This go-around, what better way to celebrate this record-breaking warm weather than with plenty of brights and pastels? From stuff you can wear to projects to jazz-up the upcoming Easter holiday, here are six of our current favorites. If you've got a post you think southeast Michigan families would enjoy, send it our way!

Glam Art Kits by Dot Arts

Craft Test Dummies keeps us up-to-date on the latest and greatest in craft and art supplies for makers of all ages. Their latest review looks at the Glam Art Kit from Dot Arts. This all-in-one offering is just the thing for a Saturday morning of glitzy inspiration.

Glitter Eggs Tutorial

With all this super warm weather we've been having in March so far, it's been more like summer! So, to get you in a spring spirit, check out Craftaholics Anonymous' glitter eggs tutorial. I love the use of Rolo chocolates to display the eggs – a project that's fun and tasty.

Garland Inspired by the Boy Scouts

After working on a pace marker project for her son's Boy Scout Troop, Sharon of Cupcakes and Cutlery wanted to find a way to take that project and turn it into decor for the home. She created this garland tutorial for You Are My Fave that definitely achieved that original idea!

Child's Rainbow Dress

This is the type of dress I would have loved when I was little. Using a vintage prom dress, Julie Finn shares her story of her daughter's dress for a local green-themed fashion show on Crafting a Green World.

Paper Rainbow

St. Patrick's Day has come and gone, but that doesn't mean the pot of gold under the rainbow left, too! Make this simple rainbow with printable templates on Zakka Life.

Cupcake Liner Paper Dolls

Muffin Tin Mom is all about pint-size eating, so it's no surprise she thought of an adorable pint-size doll. Just a cupcake liner and some imagination are all you need to make these cutie pies.
