Craft Review: Epson’s LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit

Of all the tools I have in my craft studio, you might be surprised to learn that a label maker isn’t one of them. Why not? Because I know myself and my love of organizing craft supplies – so if I had a label maker at my disposal, there would be labels on EVERYTHING. However, I’m excited to announce I’m changing that attitude thanks to Epson’s LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit. With an added focus of crafting and gift wrapping, this label maker is one of my top craft tools for 2014. I’ll bet it will be for you and your family, too!

After spending some time with LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit, courtesy of the team at Epson, you’ll find yourself wanting to put printed ribbons on pretty much everything, from your child’s lunch box to bags of homemade cookies this holiday season. The label maker looks like a bit like a mini computer. But thanks to a helpful how-to booklet, it’s incredibly easy to start making ribbons with different fonts, graphics and even borders in just minutes.

What do you get in the kit? The label maker itself, along with two types of ribbon and a handy storage case. There are a variety of ribbons to choose from, as well as other label products that can be used in this model.

The ribbon cassettes look just like that – vintage computing accessories from decades past. Each ribbon comes with a different color ink that can be printed on it.
You can change the fonts and font sizes to achieve your desired look, as well as the ability to manipulate the text to add additional space to turn the ribbons into items like bows. There are lots of graphics to choose from, from traditional holiday icons to everyday images.
When you’re done using the label maker, simply pack it all up in its clear box and put it away.

How can the ribbon be used? So, so many ways. The personalization capabilities make it ideal for sports team, school fundraisers, identifying gifts for several children at an event, etc. You can even make iron-on labels with this model, so now it helps keep clothing items that go to school easily identifiable.

I’ll be putting this kit to good use during the holiday season at the dinner table. I printed out a small “Thankful for You” ribbon and added to a paper dessert flag I made with paper scraps. With just a thin line of glue stick, the ribbon holds its position perfect on cardstock.

This product retails for $69.99. If you love to personalize as many parts of the holiday as possible for your family, give the Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit a try this year.
