A Mackinac Island Family Vacation

A ferry ride, bikes and 'the best fudge in the world' are all part of the summer fun a Detroit girl had with her family in northern Michigan

A Mackinac Island Family Vacation

Once upon a time, I went on a trip to Mackinac Island. My brother and I went with my grandma and our uncle and his family. My uncle drove us there from Detroit. It was a fun ride. We kept asking our uncle, "Are we there yet?"

When we got there, we got a hotel room. To get to Mackinac Island, we had to ride on a ferry. It was almost 92 degrees at Mackinac Island. We had ice cream when we got to the island. On the island, there were no cars, only bikes. We ate the best fudge in the world. We went to a bookstore and I got a book about haunted houses. Then we took the ferry back. It was a wobbly ride.

The next day we left to go to a water park – it was fun. At the water park there were pools and slides. We were splashing in water. I was afraid to go down the dark slide, but I did it! Then, we had to pack to go back to Detroit. I was sad to leave. When we came home, everyone was glad to see us. I hope I will go to Mackinac Island again!
