Summer Day at the Park

This family of four kicked off their metro Detroit vacation with a stop to the swings – and an unexpected mother-daughter trip down the twisty slide!

Summer Day at the Park

My husband and I took our two children, Layla, 3, and Jacob, 6 months, to the park. We pushed them both in those little baby swings. Then, Layla wanted to slide down the twisty slide. Unbeknownst to me, she wanted me to slide down with her. Now, I'm every bit of 200 pounds, so I definitely was apprehensive. I cautiously ducked under the hood of the slide, had Layla hold on to me tight and slid down. We made it down without the slide falling apart, but here was a problem: My elbows had gotten scraped on the way down! Well, she enjoyed the several times down with me, so that's all that mattered. This is the start of our memorable summer.
