Spring Festival at Kensington Metropark Farm Center in Milford

Families will find farm fun and sheep sheering at this annual Oakland County event, happening April 26-27, 2014.

It's a sure sign of spring when the annual Spring Festival at Kensington Metropark Farm Center rolls around! The sheep are ready to be shorn and kids can learn all about life on the farm with fun activities April 26-27, 2014.

If you've never seen sheep shearing before, now is your chance. The farm center's sheep get their fluffy fleece snipped off at this annual event. This year, catch the sheering from 1-3 p.m.

While the "hair cuts" are one of the Spring Festival's major activities, there is plenty in store for families, like "Rosco the Clown Featuring 'Balloon Man,'" which shows at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

Farm fun includes horse-drawn hayrides happening all day for $5/adults and $3/children 3-13 and seniors. Catch "Discover the World of Bees with John Beemer" throughout the event, too. Kids can see ongoing demos of spinning and weaving – or, from 1-3 p.m., help raise a small barn at the timber framing demo. Don't forget to take a tour of the farm! You might see new spring babies.

The Spring Festival runs noon-4 p.m. April 26-27 – a Saturday and Sunday. The cost is free, but some activities, like the hayrides, cost a small fee. Entry to the park is $7/vehicle.
