Meet Sophia, Metro Parent April 2014 CoverKid – VIDEO

Spring is in the air! This fun, enthusiastic 5-year-old from Westland captured the warm weather vibe and laughed it up in our Q&A.

Ready to cast away this crazy-cold winter once and for all? Just spend a couple minutes with CoverKid Sophia, 5, of Westland – she's practically a ray of sunshine! She got Metro Parent's April 2014 issue into warm-weather gear, highlighting over 120 spring and Easter/holiday-time family events happening in southeast Michigan.

See this animated little gal in action. We're sure you'll love her infectious giggle, random ponderings (yeah, why are the clouds pink?), special hidden talents (she can clap her feet and give Adele a run for her money) and pantomimes her dad shaving his beard – all with a toothy grin with an adorably missing bottom tooth. Ready to smile yourself?

You can meet all of our CoverKids winners for 2013, including those who were announced in September 2013 and will be appearing on our magazine covers into early 2014.

Interested in your kid being on the cover of Metro Parent magazine? Hurry on over to the Metro Parent CoverKids page. Submissions for his year's contest (for contenders for our 2014-15 covers) are due very soon! Natural self-confidence, poise and personality are what it takes – as you can see with Sophia. Better hurry, though: The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014. You never know: They might wind up in the spotlight, too!
