Nothing beats a history lesson outside of school – that's fun, to boot! No books required at Colonial Kensington which unfurls in Aug. 13-14, 2011 at the popular Kensington Metropark in Milford. Here, more than 200 re-enactors will bring Michigan's past – circa 1700-1796 – in this cool annual event.
You and your family can watch British vs. French battles (including musket and cannon firings both days!), buy an 18 century goody from merchants selling authentic repros of everything from home decor to toys, and watch demos galore (carpentry, medicine, blacksmith, candle making, storytelling – and tons more). Don't miss the games for the kids, too!
This event happens 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Best of all, it's free with the $5 vehicle permit. Get the basics on the 2011 Colonial Kensington in the Metro Parent listing!
