Armada Fair at the Armada Fairgrounds

Families get seven days of food, games rides and tons of fun Aug. 11-17, 2014 when this Macomb County tradition returns to the Armada Fairgrounds

For 142 years, a northern Macomb County event has been bringing families together for games, rides and countrified fun. Join in this time around as the Armada Fair, running Aug. 11-17, heads back to the Armada Fairgrounds.

In 2014, the fair features a full-stocked carnival midway complete with a giant wheel and Himalaya ride from Big Rock Amusements, plus fabulous food and live entertainment. Apart from the midway, kids can enjoy live animal shows, camel rides, a petting zoo, activities and much more.

Parents: While the kiddos are out having some fun, test your riding skills on a mechanical bull, try some of the great grub and beer on the midway and check out the live art and animal competitions.

Lasso the family back together for special events happening every evening. These events include a demolition derby, tractor and truck pull, rodeo, figure 8 races, and a bump 'n' run – plus a live concert with country band Parmalee.

On the last day of festivities, be sure to close out the fair at the Big Tent Party. Support breast cancer awareness with music, raffles, guest speakers and a balloon launch. This party kicks off the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, too, slated for October.

The Armada Fair happens at the Armada Fairgrounds Aug. 11-17. Tickets are $8 for adults and $2 for kids ages 9-12. Parking is $5. There are $20 daily ride wristbands and $50 weekly ride wristbands available, too.

The midway is open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily with some special events lasting further into the evening.
