Warren Birthday Bash

This Macomb County city celebrates its 55th birthday with a four-day celebration of family fun Aug. 23-26, 2012 at Warren City Square

Celebrate the city of Warren's 55th birthday with a bang! This year's four-day bash, which takes place Aug. 23-26, 2012, includes fireworks, carnival rides, music performances and much more. Bring the kids for one night or all four – and help the city of Warren blow out its birthday candles in what is sure to be a fun time for the whole family.

The birthday celebration kicks off Thursday at noon with the all-weekend carnival, live concerts, walk-in mobile aviary cage, camel rides and Chase's famous racing pigs. These activities happen all weekend long – so no need to fret if you miss them on Thursday.

An outdoor screening of Toy Story 3 ends the Thursday night fun. Grab some food, a blanket and your family – take a load off from the day's events and enjoy this beloved children's movie.

Carnival not cutting it? Friday's events include fireworks and a performance by Jack Scott. If you had to pick at least one day to visit this year's bash, it would have to be Saturday. Saturday is Kids/Scouting Day – and it's filled with family and kid-friendly activities. Highlights include a rock-climbing wall, slot-car racing, a flaming-brick breaker, a three-bike giveaway and a laser light show.

The Warren Birthday Bash will take place at the Warren City Square on Van Dyke Avenue north of 12 Mile Road.

Admission is free, but wristbands for the rides are $15. Check out the city's website (via the Metro Parent listing) to receive your coupon for $5 off the wristband price.

The scheduled times for the event are as follows:

  • Thursday: noon-9 p.m.
  • Friday: noon-11 p.m.
  • Saturday: noon-11 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon-9 p.m.
