The family is an integral part of the birthing process. We encourage parents and family members' involvement in the journey of wellness for your newborn. In the NICU, collaboration between parents and staff are the foundation for healing newborns in critical care.
Private Labor/Delivery and Recovery Rooms:
All three of our locations at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System include private and comfortable rooms. Throughout your experience, we strive to provide our patients with exceptional care. Our goal is to coordinate visitors and medical care, to allow for the needed rest and recovery, as well as the privacy and security of mom, baby and family.
Certified Nurse Midwives:
The Certified Nurse Midwives at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System provide hands on care throughout each labor and delivery. They work in partnership with women to support them, empower them and protect the natural process of birth. Midwives perform physical exams, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, diagnostic tests and provide health and wellness education.
Miracle of Life Birthing Center at St. Mary Mercy Livonia
At the Miracle of Life Birthing Center our goal is provide the best care to new mothers and families. Obstetricians and neonatologists are available 24-hours-a-day to meet all of your needs. Healthy newborns remain in the room with their mothers and the same nurse cares for both of you. Lactation consultants are on site to help new mothers with breastfeeding as well. The Miracle of Life Birthing Center offers tours, childbirth education, infant care classes and more.
