Consistent with the philosophy of care of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, the Birth Centers and the Neonatal Intensive Care Units strive to provide family-centered health care. The family is an integral part of the birthing process. We encourage parents and family members' involvement in the journey of wellness for your newborn. In the NICU, collaboration between parents and staff are the foundation for healing newborns in critical care.
Private Labor/Delivery and Recovery Rooms:
All three of our locations at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System include private and comfortable rooms. Throughout your experience, we strive to provide our patients with exceptional care. Our goal is to coordinate visitors and medical care, to allow for the needed rest and recovery, as well as the privacy and security of mom, baby and family.
Certified Nurse Midwives:
The Certified Nurse Midwives at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System provide hands on care throughout each labor and delivery. They work in partnership with women to support them, empower them and protect the natural process of birth. Midwives perform physical exams, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, diagnostic tests and provide health and wellness education.
The Family Birth Center takes pride in providing you with exceptional care. Pediatricians are available 24-hours-a-day to meet the needs of your newborn. Our obstetricians and nurse midwives have been specially trained in normal and high-risk births. Should your baby require special care, the NICU can provide the medical attention your baby needs. The Family Birth Center offers tours and classes, such as a boot camp for dads, CPR, birthing and breastfeeding classes.
