Catch Northville's annual parade at 10 a.m., complete with floats, marching bands, music, clowns, a pet parade, vintage and classic cars, a bike parade and kids' characters including Paws from the Detroit Tigers and Shooter from the Plymouth Whalers.
After that, visit historic Mill Race Village from about 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a variety of old-fashioned games and more fun at this "Four Score and Seven Independence Day Celebration," marking the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg – complete with reenactors and a reading of the Gettysburg Address. Catch the Eclipse Base Ball Club of Northville, too, for some vintage baseball (2 p.m.).
