Belly Dance, (or forms of dance that employed the same movements as modern Belly Dance), existed as a dance of fertility since the dawn of human civilization. In ancient times, Arabic women knew instinctively that it would help if they kept moving throughout childbirth. They swayed their bodies and swung and moved their hips, chest and pelvis in large, circular rotations as seen in the traditional Belly Dance moves used today. |
