Holiday Express Train Rides in Clinton Township

All aboard! Take the whole family on a magical train journey on the Holiday Express in Macomb County on Dec. 1, 15 and 22, 2012.

Hop on for a holiday locomotive ride recreating the enchanting story of The Polar Express with treats, carols and much more.

The Holiday Express Train Ride is provided by the Michigan Transit Museum and Clinton Township Parks and Recreation. The train journey takes children and adults on their very own Polar Express adventure, as if they were characters in the classic book by Chris Van Allsburg.

Hop aboard a vintage train from the early 1900s, where kids will hear the tale read by some of their favorite holiday characters, such as Rudolph or Frosty. On the journey, enjoy the ride while you munch on cookies and sip on decadent hot chocolate.

If everyone believes in the spirit of Christmas, you'll hear the holiday bells and Santa will find the Holiday Express to pass out goodies to all the believers.

The train boards at Joy Park on Joy Boulevard south of Hall Road and east of Gratiot Avenue. The ride is about 40 minutes long and is suitable for all ages. Guests are advised to bundle up with gloves and hats since the train does not have heating. Kids can wear their pajamas (just like in the story) and are encouraged to bring their own copies of The Polar Express to help them follow along.

Registration is required, and tickets cost $14 for residents and $18 for non-residents. Boarding times are at 5, 6 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 1, 15 and 22. There will be a sign language interpreter on the 7 p.m. ride on Dec. 11.
