The Rink at Campus Martius Park Ice Skating in Detroit

Bring the entire family to the heart of downtown to enjoy the outdoor ice rink for some old-fashioned winter fun Nov. 21, 2014-March 1, 2015

It's time to strap on your skates, bundle up tight and pack up the family for an outdoor skating experience in the heart of downtown Detroit! Ice skating at Campus Martius Park returns for the 2014-15 season Nov. 21, 2014-March 2, 2015.

Campus Martius Park is transformed into a family-friendly winter wonderland, complete with an outdoor ice rink, modeled after the one at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Twirl and zip (or just shuffle along the walls) around on ice skates while surrounded by the tall, beautiful buildings in downtown Detroit. In front of the rink during the holidays, marvel at the 60-foot Christmas tree, decked out for the season on the Woodward Fountain.

With hours during the day and in the evening, you'll be able to find the perfect time to bring your family to do laps or make their first glides on skates.

See the fun unfold at Campus Martius Park in our video:

Of course, be sure to swing by one of the many restaurants within walking distance of the rink when you get hungry. Pick something as close as Fountain Bistro or hop on the People Mover to go to Greektown for some grub.

You can bring your own skates and stash your shoes for $2. Plus, you can get your skates sharpened for $5. But if you don't have skates, it's not a problem! Skate rental is $3.

There's a preview weekend before the official kick-off on Nov. 21, which takes place from 9 p.m. until midnight.

Preview rink hours, Nov. 14-16, 2014:
