Camp Tall Tree provides a traditional summer camp experience for children with unique challenges. Our program focuses on personal development through positive and fun experiences in a natural environment.
For the summer of 2013, we will have a one-week session for campers with Autism. Our program is open to campers 7-14 years old. Teens who are 15 and 16 can join our teen leadership program. Campers participate in all the classic camp activities, but they can choose to join in at a level they are comfortable. Our staff knows how to adjust activities to be accessible for kids who are anxious about trying new things, or who have sensory sensitivities. We make use of visual schedules, written lists, and other forms of alternate communication. Our staff receives training about anxiety, rigidity and other social cues. We have a 2:1 camper to counselor ratio to ensure that every camper receives the support they need.
Some of the activities at camp include: • Swimming • Canoeing • Arts and Crafts • Horseback riding • Recreation & games • Archery • High and Low ropes course • Fishing • Exploring Nature • Campfires • Climbing wall
Along with these traditional camp activities, there are also activities that our staff create geared specifically to the campers interests like:
• Lego mania • Building robots • Singing and Dancing • Making music • Reading and puzzles • Cooking
Camp Tall Tree is about fun, friends, and being outside. Call for more information or to register your camper for the summer of a lifetime!
At the opening campfire, campers will have the opportunity to make s'mores, sing songs, and learn about their week at camp. Being outside and with each other are important to the experience of camp.
Campers will have the opportunity to swim, canoe, and play in the lake at Camp Copneconic. All campers will be supervised by their counselors and certified lifeguards and will participate at the level they are comfortable.
Camp is all about fun! When campers need a change of pace or are having too much fun to move on, we have the staff there to support them. We want every camper to experience a care-free week of fun, friends, and being outside.
