CCS’s Young Artist and Precollege Programs offer art and design learning opportunities for kids 6-19, year-round. All of our programs teach skills and encourage creativity by introducing young artists to the creative process.
This summer, children can participate in one or more weeks of art and design classes based on their interests and summer schedule. We strive to meet the needs of developing artists and offer exciting age-appropriate learning environments through tiered programming: One Week at a Time (ages 6-9 and 10-12), Create + Connect (ages 13-19) and Precollege Summer Experience (ages 16-19). Students may work digitally and/or traditionally based on learning objectives.

Fast friends are made in our week-long programs where students work both individually and collaboratively. Young students create and learn together using the same facilities and technology used to teach in the CCS undergraduate programs. Learning from experienced creative professionals helps kids develop their skills and personal style. Combining core-skill building with material exploration and self-expression is our primary goal.
Setting up a set for an animation takes lots of pre-planning, preparation and a steady-hand. From story outline, voice-over narrative, sound selection and prop creation students do it all with the help of knowledgeable and supportive professional artist-staff members who know their craft. Young artists get to know their peers and begin to explore materials and methods not readily available in their regular school-based programs.
Students install their work for the final exhibition. Precollege students work with tools and processes typical for any college undergraduate at CCS. Whether it’s concept development for design, learning to control the effect of light on photograph’s subject, or creating a 3D model – CCS facilities and faculty make it possible for students to achieve at the highest level. Students who enroll in the 3-week program earn 3.0 college credits. Live on campus or commute.
