Hidden within the city of Ann Arbor is a special place where a forest flourishes, wildflowers bloom, birds sing, foxes hunt, salamanders dance and children of all ages revel in the natural world around them. This 50 acres of land is the Leslie Science & Nature Center (LSNC) – a home to many plants and animals and a natural laboratory to explore. LSNC is a 501c 3 non-profit organization which brings environmental education programs to over 40,000 people yearly.
Open year ‘round, the Leslie Science & Nature Center provides an abundance of opportunities to investigate and discover the beauty and importance of nature in every season. Visit our Critter House and observe frogs, turtles, snakes, rabbits and much more! Our animals include species native to the region, as well many unique and exotic animals. It's a great way to get up close and personal with some adorable and unusual animals. Our grounds, trails and birds of prey enclosures are open every day of the year, from sunrise to sunset and are completely free of admission. The live birds of prey enclosures house many species of raptors including hawks, owls, falcons, vultures and even a bald eagle in an outdoor environment. The enclosures are specially designed for non-releasable education birds and you can walk right up to the enclosures and view the bird’s amazing adaptations. The Critter House is open Saturdays 4-6 p.m. and Sundays 12-3 p.m. There is a suggested donation.
Join us for a program! We offer school field trips, live birds of prey presentations, birthday parties, scout programs, preschool and toddler programming, facility rentals, camps during the summer and school breaks and wonderful programs for the entire family.

Our raptors are housed outdoors and you can walk right up to their enclosures and view their amazing adaptations – from feathers and beak to the talons that give raptors their name ("raptor" means "to seize or grasp," which is exactly how raptors capture their prey.)
