Authentic Montessori Education:
Authenticity – The Montessori name is not patented, and is often attached to programs that are “Montessori” in name only. We are the real thing in both philosopohy and practice, with properly trained staff, well-equipped classrooms, and a long history of success. Authentic Montessori works!
Families searching for an authentic Montessori school need look no further than Dearborn Heights Montessori Center and its satellites in Livonia and Canton. Highly-skilled teachers, beautiful materials and a rich curriculum characterize the programs at all three. Children from 18 months through grade 8 enjoy a unique educational community with mixed-age classrooms and a family-like atmosphere. Children and teachers know each other well; academic and social skills develop naturally in a climate of mutual support. Academic standards are high. Individualized programs guide students through an integrated, reasearch-based curriculum that promotes ecological awareness, cultural understanding and a world view. Hands-on materials lead to discovery and a deep understanding of concepts. In addition to language arts, mathematics and science, children study foreign languages, art, music, physical education and technology. Numerous field trips and in-house presenters further enrich the educational experience.
Programs include half and full day toddler and preschool/kindergarten, elementary and middle school, before-and after-school care, after-school enrichment classes, intramural athletics, drama, robotics, and summer camps.
All three schools are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Affiliations include the American and Michigan Montessori Societies and the Association of Independent Michigan Schools.
