From theaters to museums, venues all around southeast Michigan are bringing Black History Month 2012 to life for families. Whether you drop in for a historical story time or check out a special exhibit, there are tons of cool things for parents and kids of all ages to do and see all February long. Black History Month at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn

To honor the African Americans who helped change the world with their determination and conviction, The Henry Ford hosts special programs all month long. This year's theme is Journey and Legacy, and family programs will surround Pre-Emancipation Feb. 4-5, Northern Migration Feb. 11-12, the Civil Rights Movement Feb. 18-19 and Contemporary Times Feb. 25-26.

NBA all-star and Detroit native Chris Webber lends his personal collection to the Charles H. Wright Museum. This exhibit, which runs until April 29, features artifacts from Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and more.

Whether you browse the Artists Market or explore some of the cool exhibits, don't miss this chance for free admission to the museum during its African American History Day event. There also will be a caricature artist and live entertainment for the kids. Chat with people from historical organizations in Detroit, too – including Tuskegee Airmen.
