Dreamtigers at PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater

This traditional Latin American folklore performance creates a roaring good time for youngsters, March 2-23, 2013

Bring a world of enchantment to life as you introduce your little ones to the story of Isabel, a young girl from Mexico who is fascinated by nature and entranced by the things she reads about in her books. One night, however, Isabel becomes terribly frightened by a dream filled with scary, wild tigers! Vowing never to sleep again, Isabel's fear begins to take a toll on her family. See what happens to this bright little character and her loved ones by taking your family to see Dreamtigers, at the Detroit Puppet Theater, March 2-March 23, 2013.

This magical Latin American-inspired performance is produced by PuppetART and created by Hinterlands, a Detroit-based theater company. This performance is filled with physical theater, shadow puppetry, object puppetry and dance, and will thrust you and your family into a realm where anything is possible – and dreams come to center stage.

This one-of-a-kind, family-friendly show was inspired by the works of Latin American authors Jorge Luis Borges, Octavio Paz, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Julio Cortazar. Don't miss the opportunity to expose your youngsters to the cultural, comedic and whimsical aspects of Dreamtigers in the PuppetART's intimate 70-person theater.

You can also make this viewing experience a hands-on one by taking the kids to the optional puppet-making workshop after the show. Note: This will require an additional $8 material fee.

This performance is recommended for children 7 and up. Shows take place at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, plus one 10 a.m. show on Thursday, March 21. Admission is $5 for children under 13 and $10 for adults.

See the Metro Parent listing for more information about the Detroit PuppetART's production of Dreamtigers at the Detroit Puppet Theater.
