Mosaic Youth Theatre's Singsation at the Detroit Film Theatre

Young Detroit artists bring funk and soul to the Detroit Institute of Arts, Feb. 28 and March 1-3, 2013

Commemorate the 100th anniversary of freedom songs from the southern civil rights movement by listening to the musical stories of life, love and rhythm as the Mosaic Youth Theatre bring Singsation to the Detroit Film Theater inside of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Feb. 28 and March 1-3, 2013.

Through the usage of song and vibrant dance moves, the group – composed of young, talented artists from the Mosaic Theatre of Detroit – will take families through a melodic trip through time. You can expect to hear musical renditions of songs by Allee Willis, songwriter for Earth, Wind and Fire and Aretha Franklin, Detroit's very own Queen of Soul, at this lyrical performance.

Since its formation in 1996, this group of youthful talent has performed at a plethora of Detroit events. The Mosaic Singers have also traveled and performed nationally – in 25 different states – and internationally. Don't miss the opportunity to introduce your family to this soulful group of promising, up-and-coming talent as they bring their eclectic mix of music to the stage.

The younger set may have a hard time sitting through the entire performance, so it's best to leave tots with a sitter. Tickets for priority seating cost $35. Regular tickets will are $22 for adults and $15 for students.

Show times for this musical adventure are as follows:

  • Thursday: 10 a.m. (student matinee)
  • Friday: 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 p.m.
  • Sunday: 4 p.m.
