Utica Ice Festival

Children of all ages can enjoy carriage rides, ice shows and fireworks during this winter event in Macomb County, Feb. 8-10, 2013

Are you lacking the time or funds to take your little ones to Disney World or Disneyland? Well, no worries: Rumor has it that Disney arrives in downtown Utica, Feb. 8-10, 2013, during the Utica Ice Festival – now in its ninth year. Make sure your youngsters don't miss out on this Disney-themed winter spectacle.

The festivities kick off on Friday with horse-drawn carriage rides that will last from 4 to 8 p.m. Kids can also bust out their favorite dance moves as a DJ plays some of today's hottest tunes at Memorial Park from 7 until 8 p.m.

Once the dance party wraps up, you and your family can kick back while listening to the mayor's address. Then, at 8:20 p.m., following the mayor's address, you can cuddle up with your youngsters and watch a fireworks display.

The second day of this jam-packed, fun-filled weekend includes an amateur contest, starting at 11 a.m., and a kid's school ice contest, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Be sure not to miss out on some of your favorite Disney shows and activities, because they'll be included at this hot spot from noon to 4 p.m. End your day by taking a carriage ride. Carriage rides run 3 p.m.-7 p.m.

On the last day of downtown Utica's Ice Festival, you and your family can enjoy one last carriage ride, participate in kids' games, or ooh and aah at the fascinating tricks of a magician from noon to 4 p.m.

Official event times are as follows:

  • Friday: 8 p.m. (fireworks only)
  • Saturday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon-4 p.m.
