If you're looking to taste the authentic food, hear the captivating tunes and see the rich culture of the Middle East, then head downtown to the 41st annual Arab and Chaldean Festival. The fun happens July 28-29, 2012 at Hart Plaza in Detroit, beginning at noon and continuing till midnight.

Almost 50,000 people are expected to attend – making this Arab and Chaldean celebration the largest fest of its kind in North America!

Browse through dozens of vendors selling a variety of Middle Eastern foods, traditional and historical clothing and other authentic items from a range of countries. Stroll through the culturally themed gallery exhibits, too, including "100 Years of Arab Medicine," "Arab Folklore and Customs," "The History of Yemen," "Arab Calligraphy" and more.

Then, bring the kids down for a chance to play a variety of games, make fun arts and crafts and even explore some inflatable attractions at the Children's Fair. This portion runs 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.

And be sure to enjoy performances by musicians from all over country, including Hussam Al-Rassam, Khairy Boudagh, Adnan Al Ghati, Monalisa and more. A fashion show exhibiting a variety of historical and cultural attire from each of the Arab countries happens at Sunday 8 p.m.

Best of all, admission to the festival is totally free!
