PNC Presents the Roar on the River in Trenton

Hit Elizabeth Park for a fast-paced family friendly festival on the Detroit River running July 20-22, 2012, boasting great boat fun for the entire family

The Trenton Rotary Club has done it again – along with PNC Bank and a number of other sponsors. More than 6,000 people will be heading down to Elizabeth Park in Trenton for the 75th annual PNC Roar on the River, happening July 20-22, 2012.

The event will run 3 to 10 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday – leaving plenty of time to enjoy the medley of activities the festival has to offer.

The fun will begin on Friday with the "A Taste of the Races" party, also held in conjunction with Pirate Night! From 6 to 11 p.m., costumes and contests will be celebrated, along with a live broadcast hosted by 94.7 WCSX's Juline Jordan. There will be a vibrant fireworks display sponsored by Emagine Entertainment theaters.

And, of course, Roar on the River also provides the opportunity to enjoy a number of exhilarating boat races. Racers from all over the country gather on the Detroit River in the spirit of good competition. Boats include outboard performance crafts, stock outboards and Supertight Tunnel Boats. In addition to the races, watch for Jet Ski shows.

The festival also holds a number of new events this year, including the "Rumble on the River" motorcycle show, which has a $10 entry fee benefitting the Trenton Firefighter Charities and The Guidance Center in Southgate. Also new this year: The Driver School for Tunnel Boat Racing, which will be held Friday, July 20, giving attendees the opportunity to drive a tunnel boat themselves!

And don't worry: The festival surely won't leave your children – nor your stomachs – wanting for anything. Child-friendly events include the Children's Fun Fair, which allows youngsters to indulge in face painting, bouncy houses and an all-around fun time.

Also, the festival will be blasting great music with several concerts – which are absolutely free of charge! Also, the Boy Scouts are coming out to serve up a delicious pancake breakfast both Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 11 a.m. And Friday night's pirate party will include a delicious Tastefest that charges $35 ahead of time and $40 at the door.
