Stars & Stripes Festival at Freedom Hill County Park

This annual shindig has moved to a new location in Sterling Heights – but promises the same family fun, June 28-30, 2013

The Stars & Stripes Festival has a new home! This annual Macomb County shebang has moved from Mount Clemens to Freedom Hill County Park in Sterling Heights. The fest takes place June 28-30, 2013 – and features entertainment for everyone in the family.

The event is packed – so you'll stay busy all weekend. Take the kids to the carnival; it boasts a kiddie area featuring 12 kid-size rides and a main area that has 16 rides sure to give you the adrenaline rush you're looking for.

The Stars & Stripes Festival also features a BMX Stunt Show, a petting zoo and camel rides, monster truck rides and a circus show by Fearless Flores. Don't miss out on the Banana Derby – where monkey jockeys, Bobo and Gilligan T. Monkey race. Yep, the monkeys ride on dogs and the dog's race!

Love music? Catch one – or all! – of the live performances this weekend, which include Randy Travis, Puddle of Mudd, Cake and many more! Or check out some homemade crafts made by local artists at this year's art fair.

The fest also includes a special Salute to the Military honoring all five branches of the United States Military. Take a moment to remember all those who fought for our freedom and stop at the Vietnam Memorial Wall – on display all weekend.

End the weekend with a bang! Enjoy the spectacular fireworks show on at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday. The display can be viewed from anywhere on the grounds.

The fun is free – and festival hours are as follows:

  • Friday: 2 p.m.-midnight
  • Saturday: noon-midnight
  • Sunday: noon-11 p.m.
