Wyandotte Street Art Fair

This 52nd annual event is back again to entertain the downriver area in a display of fine art, live performances and great food, July 10-13, 2013

Nothing says summer better than an open-air art fair. Take in the smells of more 20 restaurants and vendors, the sights of fine art and the free feeling of a day spent in the fresh air and sunshine at this year's Wyandotte Street Art Fair, July 10-13, 2013.

Experience live entertainment every day of the fair, but you don't have to be at the stage to see it! Keep an eye out for traveling bands, stilt-walkers and vaudeville-style performances – they could be happening anywhere! Support a huge array of artists from all over the country, there to amuse and impress attendees.

Give your child a head start on their palate for the arts by bringing them to the Children's Emporium, a place where every artist in the fair donates a piece specifically for purchase by children ages 12 and under. The prices on these pieces are low (usually $1 to $5) to encourage kids to develop a taste for expression through art.

Kids and adults alike can participate in an ongoing game at the fair: find ART. ART is a character from original posters. This year, his look is re-imagined so keep your eyes peeled for ART among the art at the fair and you could win a prize at the information booth.

The Street Art Fair began in 1961 with only a handful of artists displaying their work in the street then unexpectedly grew to become one of the largest fairs in the Mitten State.

With free entry it's hard to resist the urge to check out one of the best-attended art fairs in Michigan. It boasts an average of over 200,000 visitors, and this year is your chance to see what the hullabaloo is about.

The fair is located in downtown Wyandotte at the heart of the downriver area, between Eureka and Oak Streets on Biddle Avenue.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with entertainment on the stage from noon to 11 p.m.

See the Metro Parent listing for more on the Wyandotte Street Art Fair.
