Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival in New Baltimore

The 49th annual Macomb County festival returns June 19-23, 2013 with food, games, a parade and more great family activities

As the fish flies return to the region, so does the annual Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival in New Baltimore, happening June 19-23, 2013 and bringing family fun to the community.

The excitement kicks off Wednesday with lots in store for the little ones. Take them to see Rosco the Clown – a local kid favorite – or let them dig for silver. Participate in the ping-pong drop and "Chicken Chuckin'" contest – games all sure to keep them busy.

And of course, you don't want to miss the Queen's Pageant. Witness the crowning of Miss Bay-Rama in the festival tent at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday, kids ages 6-11 can participate in the bubble gum-blowing contest, or the little ones 6-10 years old can try the "Wrap your Mummy" contest. All ages are welcome at the hula-hoop contest, though.

Preregister for the Best Buy Wii "Just Dance" Off – just for kids ages 5 to 18. The prize to win is your very own Wii console! Top it all off with the Fabulous Fishfly Fireworks display at dusk.

Friday is a great day for the hungriest festivalgoers, with pie and watermelon eating contests for the little ones. Bring those 12 and under to the New Baltimore Civic Club at Main and Blackwell streets for the Princess & Pirate Pizza Party. Meet and greet Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and also the Bay-Rama Queen's Court. Feel free to come in princess and pirate attire. Advance ticket purchase is required.

Saturday is Kids Day, featuring a bike raffle, pizza-eating contest, cardboard boat "regatta" race and petting farm. Be sure to take the children by the kids tent on Main Street near Washington Street, too.

Wrap up your week of celebration on Sunday with a big parade starting at 1 p.m.

Nobody under the age of 21 is allowed in the festival tent after 7 p.m. Wristbands are available on site for $20.

Scheduled festival times are as follows:

  • Wednesday: 3-11 p.m.
  • Thursday: 3 p.m.-dusk
  • Friday: 3-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: noon-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
