Belleville National Strawberry Festival

Check out this annual fruit-inspired shindig in the city's downtown area for loads of family fun, June 14-16, 2013

Get your family together for a weekend packed with tons of cool activities at the Belleville National Strawberry Festival, June 14-16, 2013.

This festival takes place in multiple areas throughout Belleville. Head to Trinity Episcopal Church to check out the indoor/out craft fair or snag a delicious strawberry treat! (They even offer gluten-free strawberry snacks!) Hungry for a meal? Try one of their sloppy Joes. Plus, let the kids get their faces painted. Half of the proceeds earned will be used to assist charities such as Detroit Soup Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity.

St. Anthony's Catholic Church boasts bingo, food vendors, a craft show, beer tent with entertainment and a petting zoo, to name a few! Not to mention, there is free parking at this location.

At the Belleville Presbyterian Church, there are juried crafters, a food booth and strawberry goodies. Check out the entertainment or take a guided tour of the chapel – which was on of the original chapels built by Henry and Clara Ford to honor their mothers.

Don't miss out on the offerings available on Main Street; juried crafts, food and commercial vendors, a children's area and cool deals at local retailers.

There will be two midways – at St. Anthony Catholic Church and on Main Street – so take the kiddos on a few fun rides. The parade takes place 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday and features more than 150 entries including floats, musical entertainment, clowns and more.

Make Father's Day special and take dad to the car show on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Victory Park.

Admission to the festival is free, and free shuttles are available to get you around with ease. Event times are as follows:

  • Friday: 4-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

See the Metro Parent listing for more on the Belleville National Strawberry Festival.
