Fourth of July Events in Southeast Michigan
Fireworks, parades and more are in store for Independence Day! Celebrate the holiday at these 2012 festivals in metro Detroit, Ann Arbor and beyond.

Grosse Pointe Farms Regatta and Fireworks
- Address: Pier Park, 350 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms
- Time: Music and regatta 7-9:45 p.m., fireworks 10 p.m.
- Cost: Free
Before the boat races and concerts, earlier in the day, this annual event typically includes kids' fun (such as a decorated bike parade, face painting and sand castle contest). Check out the website, via the Metro Parent listing, for the latest.
Groveland Oaks Park July Fourth Fun
- Address: 14555 Dixie Highway, Holly
- Time: 9:30-11:30 p.m.
- Cost: $10 after 5 p.m., free with vehicle permit
Come earlier in the day for games, entertainment and crafts; the fireworks happen shortly after dusk.
Lake Erie Metropark Fireworks
- Address: 32481 W. Jefferson Ave., Brownstown
- Time: Dusk
- Cost: $5/vehicle before 5 p.m., $10/vehicle after, free/with annual permit
Catch music by Flashback from 6 to 9:30 p.m., as well as an open wave pool and other attractions at the park.
Lake Orion Fourth of July Fireworks
- Address: Green's Park, 100 S. Park Blvd., Lake Orion
- Time: Dusk (rain date is Saturday, July 7)
- Cost: Free
This big annual show, run by the nonprofit Lake Orion Fireworks Association, also includes a raffle drawing on July 7.
Stars and Stripes Festival
- Address: Near Macomb Place and Main Street, downtown Mount Clemens
- Times: 11 a.m.-midnight June 29-30, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. July 1
- Cost: Free
Check out the fireworks tonight. There's also entertainment, food, art, carnival rides, petting farm, pony rides and more available all weekend.
Westland Summer Festival
- Address: Westland City Hall Grounds, 36601 Ford Road, Westland
- Time: 4 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon-midnight June 30-July 1, 4 p.m.-midnight July 2-3, noon-midnight July 4
- Cost: Free, some events and activities may charge
Five days of fun include rides, arts and crafts, food, exotic animals and more; the fireworks topper is July 4.
White Lake Fireworks
- Address: South end of White Lake, Highland
- Time: Dusk
- Cost: Free
Various fundraising efforts support this spectacular two-barge display, helmed by the White Lake Citizens League.
Whitmore Lake Fireworks
- Address: Whitmore Lake, viewing area across from the post office
- Time: 10 p.m.
- Cost: Free, some events or activities may include a fee
Come out earlier in the day for a 10K run and 5K walk/run at 8 a.m., followed by the "Splash & Dash" at 9:15 a.m. DJ Romeo spins at 7 p.m.

20th Annual Salute to America
- Address: Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn

- Cost: Advance: $19-$22.50/adults, $12-14/ages 5-12; Gate: $25-$27 and $15-$17.50, free/under 4; $5/parking
This four-day celebration includes kids activities like 19th century lawn games and special visits from members of Greenfield Village's historic baseball teams. Patrons can also enjoy picnics and great food from the Henry Ford's award-winning chefs. The night ends with fireworks accompanied by Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and live cannon fire.
