Green Living Festival

June 22-24, 2012

  • Where: Third and Water streets, downtown Rochester
  • Times: 4-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
  • Cost: Free

This fifth annual has hybrid and electric autos, loads of green vendors, yoga, dance, music, a Kids Corner with a portable farm, a parade and much more.

Log Cabin Days Festival

June 23-24, 2012

  • Where: Fish Hatchery Park, 4490 Hatchery Road, Waterford
  • Times: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday
  • Cost: Free

Check out the living history encampment, tunes, strawberry shortcake social, alpacas and kids' fun to the max, all hosted by Historic Waterford Village.

Clawson Fourth of July Celebration

  • Where: Downtown Clawson

Festivities kick off with a fun run followed by ice cream social, band concert, midway, kiddy parade, kids' games, water battle between the Clawson and Troy fire departments and fireworks.

Ann Arbor Book Festival Children's Fair

June 23, 2012

  • Where: The Diag, University of Michigan central campus, Ann Arbor
  • Times: 2-4 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

The bigger book fest is more geared toward grown-up bookworms, but this special time just for kids features activities including life-sized game "Do or Diag," plus fun with 826 Michigan, Ann Arbor Hands On Museum, Ann Arbor Art Center and even books created by U-M students.

Stars and Stripes Festival

June 29-July 1, 2012

  • Where: Near Macomb Place and Main Street, downtown Mount Clemens
  • Times: 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday
  • Cost: Free

Find Friday night fireworks, the Banana Derby, tunes, food, a carnival, laser light show Saturday, Micro Reality Stock Car Racing, baseball pitching competition and loads more.

Westland Summer Festival

June 29-July 4, 2012

  • Where: Westland City Hall grounds, 36601 Ford Road, Westland
  • Times: 4 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday-Sunday, 4 p.m.-midnight Monday-Tuesday, noon-midnight Wednesday
  • Cost: Free, $20/ride wristbands

Celebrate summer with rides for all, food, concessions, nightly entertainment, exotic animals, plenty of kids' activities, fireworks and more.

Scottish American Society of Michigan Highland Games

Wee Barons get the fun works at this Scottish party with a mini caber toss, bounce house, balloons, crown craft-making and, new for this year, pony rides! Enjoy loads of food, music and dancing, too.

Salute to America

  • Times: 6-10 p.m.
  • Cost: Advance: $19-$22.50/adults, $12-14/ages 5-12; Gate: $25-$27/adults, $15-$17.50/kids (note: lower costs are for members)

Get ready for an evening of music from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under the stars – with a dazzling fireworks finale. Bring a picnic or sample what the chefs have to offer.
