Ford Fireworks in Detroit

Get ready for all the 'ooh's' and 'ah's' as the spectacular fireworks display makes Detroit's night sky glow again with color on June 23, 2014.

The loudness of all the cracks, sizzles and pops will be heard by all of metro Detroit as the city prepares for the annual Ford Fireworks display on June 23, 2014.

Now in its 56th year, the anticipation is building for the biggest fireworks display in all of Detroit, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators every year.

Locals both young and old look forward to this summertime tradition with their family and friends and camp out downtown for hours so they don't miss the first big boom.

The fireworks begin around 10 p.m., so pack a cooler, snacks and some lawn chairs and arrive super early to be guaranteed a great viewing spot by the Detroit River. And if you're lucky, you may even be able to catch the WDIV Local 4 Super Singer contest, in which five metro Detroit finalists compete for a grand prize.

Aside of the live entertainment, your family can also enjoy great food from Andiamo's, a wide selection of drinks for adults and interactive games along the riverfront for kids.

Created and produced by The Parade Company, the Ford Fireworks feature more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects this year that will be visible for miles along the Detroit River. So grab your kids and head downtown Monday, June 23, for a free fantastic fireworks show from the Ford Motor Company beginning at 10 p.m.
