St. Patrick's Parade in Corktown, Detroit
Head on down to the traditional Sunday parade where every family's Irish on March 14, 2010
Now over a half-century old, the traditional St. Patrick's Day Parade in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood steps off – as always – at 2 p.m. sharp on the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day (this year, that's March 14). Covering a dozen or so blocks along Michigan Avenue, this green-washed, family fun spectacle features marching bands, societies, novelty groups and plenty more to show off the Irish pride of this area, which is named for its earliest immigrants (who hailed from County Cork in Ireland). Check out Metro Parent's St. Patrick's Day parade overview, or find more details at the parade website.
