Autorama at Cobo Center in Detroit

Gentlemen – and families! – start your engines and head to Cobo Center in Detroit for Autorama, March 8-10, 2013

The rubber meets the pavement in Detroit as the 61st annual Autorama roars into the Cobo Center, March 8-10, 2013.

Friday night's Ridler Award and cocktail reception starts the engine of this annual Motown favorite, bringing to life a weekend filled with custom cars, motorcycles, hot rods, special guests and even a toy show.

This year's event features a Batmobile tribute, showcasing three generations of the iconic automobile from the '60s, '80s and the 21st century. Not to be outdone, Ford takes you on its own trip down memory lane with their first "Feather's Tribute" to '55, '56 and '57 Thunderbirds.

Afterward, swing back over to the 21st century and WRIF's Kid Rock collection of legendary vehicles, owned by hometown favorite Kid Rock.

Rubber and metal aren't the only things to see at Autorama this weekend. Special guests are scheduled throughout the weekend including wrestling superstar Edge, A&E's Mountain Man Tim Guraedy from the popular Duck Dynasty series, as well as Spongebob Squarepants.

Want to combine special guest and auto action? Then stop by the Chop Shop. Legendary customizer Gene Winfield bends metal, chops tops and more in live demonstrations throughout the weekend.

If the kiddies start to crave something more their size, take them over to check out Toy-A-Rama. The largest toy show in Michigan, Toy-A-Rama showcases model cars, die cast cars, Hot Wheels, antiques, slot cars and more in over 50,000-square-feet of vendor space.

With something for everyone, you won't want to miss the Detroit Autorama! Admission is $18 for adults, $6 for ages 6-12 and free for 5 and under. Discount tickets are available at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Event times are as follow:

  • Friday: noon-10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
