Not stuck on the latest trend of having another party for your kid this year? Here are five reasons to consider throwing a shindig for your kiddo.

Most kids count down the days to their birthday – and the party that's likely to come with it. They have a chance to celebrate their special day with friends and family, get presents, and eat a cake. But there's another trend creeping up in the birthday party department – half birthdays.

There's a handy half-birthday calculator at HalfBirthdayParties.com you can print out to pinpoint the midway point. While some parents have embraced half-birthdays as a fun way to stretch out their child's "official" birthday, others have decried half birthdays as a silly excuse to indulge your child.

Before your toss out this tradition altogether, here are five reasons you might consider breaking out the party hats for your child's half birthday.
