Bring the kids out to this Oakland County spot May 25-26, 2013 for this annual event.
Get ready for a fun-filled weekend at the Greater Rochester Heritage Days at Rochester Municipal Park, May 25-26, 2013.
The event offers insight into the community's history, tradition and culture. The festival provides lots of old-fashioned entertainment for adults and children alike.
The festival has many kid-friendly events; the new and improved Pioneer Homestead and Playground features stilts, gourd bowling, a bean bag toss, face painting and more. Or, let your little one go on a camel or pony ride. Kids can check out the rubber duck race down Paint Creek, too.
There are tons of choices to pick from. The main event is the Great Lake Timber Show featuring Bruce Belanger. It's a lumberjack exhibition with logrolling, ax throwing and chainsaw carving; there will be multiple performances each day. Or, check out a musical performance by The Woven Tangles or the Two Talls on Saturday.
Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve's Crafts Along the Creek show features local artists selling their handcrafted items like jewelry, photography, children's clothing and garden decorations.
Check out the annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, the vintage baseball game and Civil War re-enactments. Or, get to the festival early for a delicious pancake breakfast at the Rochester Community House from 8:30 until 11 a.m. both days. The cost for breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets for the pancake breakfast can be purchased at the door.
