Motor City Comic Con at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi

This annual event welcomes comic creator Stan Lee. Plus, families can screen movies, build LEGO creations and much more, May 17-19, 2013.

Get your little comic fans ready for Michigan’s largest comic book and pop culture event! Motor City Comic Con, which runs May 17-19, 2013, returns to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi for another year of family fun.

The 24th annual event offers free gaming events on Friday and Saturday. The featured event on Friday is “Magic the Gathering Beginners Sealed Deck.” The event begins at 1:30 p.m. and is free with a convention badge. The event featured for Saturday is “Magic the Gathering Standard Format.” And, this begins at 11 a.m. and is free with a convention badge.

Motor City Comic Con features two costume contests: one for ages 12 and under and a costume contest for those 13 and older.  The Robot Garage offers your kids a hands-on experience building with LEGOs – or to having some fun in a SUMO ROBOTICS match.

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Stan Lee, the iconic character creator and comic legend. He will have a Saturday appearance where he’ll sign autographs and pose for fan photos.

Motor City Comic Con features special guests Aaron Ashmore, Colin Baker, Lauren Holly and Erika Eleniak. Guests will be present Friday to Sunday.

The cost for the event ranges from $11 for children’s one-day pass to $22 for children’s three-day passes for kids ages 6-10.  Children under 5 are free. Adult passes are available for $27 for an adult one-day pass to $58 for adult three-day passes.

The times for the event are as follows:

  • Friday: 12:30- 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
