Metro Parent's May 2014 Cover Shoot Outtakes

CoverKid Talia, 6, of Harrison Township graces the cover of this month's issue. Take a peek at the pictures that didn't make the cut.

During the month of May, families are challenged to go screen-free for an entire week. That's right: May 5-11 is Screen-Free Week, and for this month's issue of Metro Parent, we recruited three southeast Michigan families to take the challenge. How did they do? You'll have to read to find out!

Also this month, meet John Lebert, the curator at a reptile zoo in Ann Arbor, get the details from a new study about the emotional effects of homework on your kids – and much more.

This month's CoverKid Talia, age 6, of Harrison Township, was totally entranced by a screen for the cover of our May issue. But in real life, she could totally go screen-free – at least that's what she told us! Coloring and tea partying, anyone?

Flip through these outtakes from the cover shoot, and be sure to watch the Q&A video with local CoverKid Talia, too.
