Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power at Henry Ford Museum

Fans from the decades of women's rock are in for a real tunable treat as this interactive exhibit rocks Dearborn May 17-Aug. 17, 2014

Aretha, Madonna and The Supremes, oh my! It's not just the melodic ladies of Detroit that you will get to know; your family will also have the opportunity to learn about favorite female rockers from across the country. Check out the Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power exhibit this summer at the Henry Ford Museum in Museum May 17-Aug.17, 2014, and discover all the musical paraphernalia left behind by these legends and many more.

While you won't meet the artists in person, your kids get the next best thing and explore their music sheets, handwritten notes, session cards, concert posters, photographs and even some of their iconic instruments. Take a look back at history through 250-plus astonishing artifacts, including Joan Jett's black leather jacket, one of The Supremes' "Black Swirls" dresses, Lady Gaga's unforgettable meat dress and Janis Joplin's handwritten lyrics for her smash hit "Move Over."

This exhibit is included with general admission which is $18/adults and $13.50/ages 5-12. It's free for Henry Ford Museum members – and kids under 4!

But you don't have to wait until the opening day to get your tickets. On Thursday, May 15, there will be an exclusive preview sharing some of the artists' stories and seeing the exhibit before it opens to the public. The night's event will even feature the original MTV VJ Nina Blackwood as the party MC. The ticket price is $125 and includes food, bar, entertainment and, of course, the exhibit preview.

Help recognize our ladies of music history at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily beginning May 17 to join all the fun.
