2010 Young Authors & Illustrators Competition
Scores of southeast Michigan kids competed for $250 in college savings during Metro Parent's annual writing competition
Over 250 talented kids entered Metro Parent's 2010 Young Authors & Illustrators Competition. Open to children in grades 1-8, this contest lets southeast Michigan children show off their way with words or amazing artistry by submitting their original stories. Kids pick the themes, but whether the story's about their dreams, hopes or visions of a galaxy far, far away, they must present an engrossing tale with a clear beginning, middle and end. The deadline was Feb. 1, 2010.
In this annual event, grand-prize winners receive a prize package including a trophy, books and $250 toward their college savings account. Runners-up receive tickets to local attractions, books and more. Finalists are invited to attend the Young Authors & Illustrators Awards ceremony, typically held in spring or summer, where winners are announced. Grand-prize winners also are featured in a spring 2010 issue of Metro Parent magazine.
One submission is allowed per child. All submissions become the property of Metro Parent and will not be returned. However, parents can pick up submissions from our office after the judging process.
