'A Red Ryder Christmas Story' Exhibit in Plymouth

Cult classic flick 'A Christmas Story' inspires this fun Plymouth Historical Museum exhibit, also featuring local history. It runs Nov. 9-Dec. 31, 2011.

The holiday season is right around the corner – and for many families, that means popping in A Christmas Story, the '80s flick that showcases Ralphie and his longing for a Red Ryder BB gun. Inspired by this classic movie, the Plymouth Historical Museum hosts its A Red Ryder Christmas Story Exhibit, on display Nov. 9 to Dec. 31, 2011.

The exhibit showcases the period in which the movie is depicting – the '40s – with toys, clothing and artifacts from that time. It also links in Plymouth's historical ties to BB-gun manufacturing.

Every Saturday in December, Santa will visit with children at the museum, which is open 1-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids ages 6 to 17.
