Cars, Trees & Traditions Exhibit at Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills

This metro Detroit holiday family favorite returns to the popular automotive museum Nov. 17-Dec. 30, 2012 with crafts, model trains and fun for kids

Take a trip down memory lane this holiday season when you visit the Cars, Trees & Traditions exhibit at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. This Auburn Hills event celebrates eight decades of holiday cheer by pairing 23 classic Chrysler autos with beautiful Christmas trees.

Each tree is decorated according to the time period in which its car was popular. Holidays past come to life with vintage advertisements, events and photos. Learn how cars changed in style and safety, from carriages to chromed-out beauties from the '50s – and how this changed the ways Americans celebrated the holidays.

Crafts and model trains run throughout the season to add holiday cheer. Kids can take home their own creations 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays – and see three spectacular trains run along a gigantic track in the "garage" 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays and 2-4 p.m. Sundays.

There will also be a scavenger hunt for children and adults, complete with prize drawings for winners.

The main exhibit runs Nov. 17-Dec. 30, 2012. The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays. General admission is $8 and $4 ages 6-12. Anyone under the age of 5 gets in free! Note: museum is closed Dec. 24 and 25.
