Holiday Parades in Southeast Michigan

Is there a better way to ring in the 2013 holiday season than with a festive procession? Find fun ones in Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

It's time to line the streets and ring in the holidays! Metro Parent has put together a list of the best holiday parades throughout metro Detroit and Ann Arbor to get you into the swing of things. Keep your eyes open for Santa at the conclusion of many of these events (or find him in our guide to Santa appearances in southeast Michigan).

Wyandotte Holiday Parade

The city of Wyandotte is showcasing a very tuneful holiday parade this year, with over 10 different musical groups set to perform. Be sure to wait until the end of the parade to see the guest of honor himself, Mr. Claus.

Allen Park Lighted Christmas Parade

This annual lighted parade goes right through downtown Allen Park on Park Avenue. St. Nicholas is sure to make an appearance at the end of this dazzling nighttime celebration.

Northville Parade and Greens Market

Come for the lighted parade that loops through downtown Northville, but stay for the weekend-long market of holiday crafts and goods. This holiday kick-off parade steps off at 6:30 p.m. sharp.

Holiday Magic Parade in Royal Oak

It's the 12th year of this downtown parade that boasts more than 80 floats, music groups, circus performers and more! Visit with Santa after the parade at the Royal Oak Emagine movie theater from 3 to 5 p.m.

America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit

It's America's Thanksgiving Day Parade, right in downtown Detroit! This year's route expands a bit, making way for eight new floats and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Don't miss the Big Head Corps and arrival of Santa Claus. This year's theme is "Downtown Our Town," a celebration of not only Detroit, but also the entire region and state of Michigan. 

Grosse Pointe Santa Claus Parade

The holiday cheer begin here, starting at the corner of Lewiston Road and Kercheval Avenue through The Hill shopping district in Grosse Pointe Farms and The Village shopping district. After the parade, Santa visits with kids in The Village until 4 p.m.

Macomb County Santa Parade in Mount Clemens

This parade down Main Street has been an annual Mount Clemens celebration since 1975! This year's grand marshal is Michigan rock and country musician Ty Stone. After the parade, meet with Santa at the Macomb Music Theatre, where there will be crafts and more.
