'Kolobok' Puppet Show at PuppetART in Detroit

The Gingerbread Man is told for kids with a Russian spin in this fun family show at the Detroit Puppet Theater Saturdays during November 2011

Click here for details on the July 2012 production of Kolobok at Detroit PuppetART.

"You can't catch me – I'm the Gingerbread man!" Take the family to experience an American folktale, Russian-style, as PuppetART in Detroit presents Kolobok. In this version, playing Saturdays in November 2011, the title character, a little butterball, travels on an adventure in a magical forest after running away from his parents.

Kolobok's story is told through the eyes of two forest creatures that follow him on his journey. Live actors bring the puppets to life and light up the stage in this colorful musical with its own original tunes and lyrics. The show is recommended for ages 4 and older.

While you're here, you can also tour the puppet museum and check out the studio, where kids learn how to be a puppeteer and create their own dolls after the show (for an extra $8).

Kolobok runs Nov. 5 to 26 at the PuppetART Theater in Detroit. The show is performed every Saturday at 2 p.m. – with an additional Thursday showing on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. The cost is $10 for adults $5 for children.

See the Metro Parent calendar listing for more info on PuppetART's 2011 presentation of Kolobok at the Detroit Puppet Theater.
