Michigan Apple Festival at Historic Eastern Market in Detroit

Detroit's historic outdoor marketplace hosts this family friendly fall Saturday series of events Oct. 8-Oct. 29, 2011

Historic Eastern Market, the famed six-block public bazaar in Detroit, hosts the Michigan Apple Festival Saturdays until Oct. 29 (with the exception of Oct. 22) and promises fun for the entire family!

The festivities on Oct. 8 include an apple pie contest, hula hoop contest and cow milking contest. Chainsaw carver Lonnie Giles is doing demonstrations, plus the Detroit Edison Public School Academy band performs.

Oct. 15 promises pumpkin carving, karate demos and the Sibling Rivalry Band. And return on Oct. 29 for live music and the Eastern Market scavenger hunt.

The fun happens 9 a.m.-3 p.m. – and it's all free!
