Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum Birthday Party

The Hands-On Museum in Ann Arbor is turning 30! Celebrate with fun activities at the museum, Oct. 13-14, 2012

For 30 years, families and educators have visited the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum to learn about science through exhibits that present concepts in physics, music and even math in a fun way.

On Oct. 13-14, 2012, you can head to the museum with your family for some science-filled activities to help celebrate the 30th anniversary at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum Birthday Party.

Just like at a regular birthday party, decorations will deck the museum, and guests can play games (and yes, they’ll be science-themed).

The museum will also start its new science workshop called 30-Minute Science during its 30th birthday party weekend that will continue on select Saturdays and Sundays.

The first workshop, which will take place in the ScienceWorks area, will be candle making – perfect for the birthday celebration.

At the workshop, kids will learn various candle-making techniques. This workshop is free when you pay admission. Candle making will run at noon, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Note: Kids must be 10 and up to participate in this workshop, or be 6 and up and supervised by an adult.

You can swing by the party at the following times:

  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon-5 p.m.

Kids 2 years old and up are welcome, and admission is $10.

Since 1982, more than 4.3 million people have visited the museum, with an average of 250,000 visitors exploring it each year, the museum’s website says. The Hands-On Museum has more than 250 interactive exhibits to discover.
